Self-Perception

Self-Perception

It is truly essential for one to have a healthy and positive self-perception of him/herself. Self-Perception is a mixture of both mental and physical components that make an individual unique. Unfortunately, there are many individuals who do not have positive self-perception based on their life experiences. The journey for to develop a positive self-perceptive was not easy. It was through individual counseling in which I began the route on developing healthy concept of myself. The counseling session also brought painful experiences that I did not want to face. As I embark on my life journey – my graduate educational courses also had a role in developing a healthy self-perception and defense mechanism to deal with negative criticism regarding my new outlook in life.

One must be keen to the ability to change in order to survive in this world. Life is ever changing and if an individual refuses not to change or become stagnant – it would lead to heartache and disappointment. If I had not chosen to embark on the road to developing a healthy self-perception for myself – I would be truly disappointed in that the people that I saw myself through are no longer in my circle. One has to realize that the only person that he/she can depend on is him/herself.

The individual has to comprehend that we all through various stages in life in that individual’s perception from the past will not be suitable for his/her present self. The friends that I had in my past – are no longer factor in my present world. This fact was truly painful for me to accept and did not want to let go of the relationship. It was until I let go of the relationship that I was able to grow and be comfortable in my own skin.

Once you have achieved the goal of a positive self-perspective of thyself. You must make sure that you are in the environment that accept you for who you are. Not everyone will be accepting of the change that you have undergone – such is life. Not every relationship are meant to be permanent sometimes we have to cut the cords on certain relationship to be able to proceed to the next level in journey.

Rejection

Rejection

How does one deal with rejection? Rejection is subject that many individuals tend to avoid or ignore because it brings up unpleasant emotions which are often painful or traumatic depending on the situation.  It was not until the death of a former acquaintance is when I had to face the reality that the individual that I held on a high pedestal did not have the same feeling towards me.  As I was going over the past events with the acquaintance and other individuals. Instead of me, parting ways with these individuals.  I am tried to conform to their standards in order for me to accept and like by them.  It was until I became comfortable in my own skin is when I was fully able to come to term with rejection. Now, if this event had occurred two- three years ago – I will be an emotional wreck.

A person’s perception of himself/herself is very crucial on how come to term with rejection.  The traumatic emotions associated rejection is rooted in how the individual relates with others. In my case, I had the unrealistic idea that other were superior to me.  Inferiority complex was the driving factor in me being a people pleaser. How I was able to get over the inferiority complex was through individual counseling in which I came to the realization that that the individuals in my life are not perfect and they also are dealing with their own personal issues.  Once, I was able to overcome the inferiority complex, I began to see the world in a new light.

In regards to coming to term with the past acquaintance – I was angry and hurt at the same time. However, I came to the realization that the relationship with the individual was based on false perception from my end, which assisted me in coming term in dealing with the rejection.

Motivation

Motivation

Motivation is the strong desire for an individual to complete a goal in his/her life.  An individual can have several goals but it is up to the individual to follow through with the process of accomplishing the goal base on his/her own motivation.  One example of motivation is the accumulation of financial wealth. It is the hope of many individuals to become extremely wealthy in life but only a few are able to accomplish this goal in his/ her lifetime.

My motivation for being a Self-Confidence Coach is based on my desire to assist individuals who are having difficulty with low self-confidence/ self-esteem.  I know first what it was like growing up with low self-esteem. I want to assist others in learning and developing mechanism (defense and coping) in combating issues stemming from low self-esteem.  Individual who has low self-esteem often find him/herself being manipulated by his/her inner circle.  Many at times will often find him/herself in abusive relationship

Another motivation that I am currently working is my health.  I am currently working on my body weight because to the health ailment that I am currently suffering from.  I started a physical routine of cardio exercise to assist me in my journey of weight loss.  I am gladden to say that since I started my cardio activity in October 2020 – I am now down 15 pounds.

What is it that motivates you?  How do see yourself in completing the task based on your motivation.
